Oh Dear...

To the parents and caregivers of Room 14ers,

There are students in Room 14 (and other Hobsonville classes) that currently have nits. In addition to sending the usual letter home that most parents have probably seen at least a few times already over the past couple years, please have a look at the video below. As added bonus footage, the video also includes information about bedbugs and scabies!
This is a friendly reminder to please REGULARLY inspect your favourite Room 14er's hair for any signs of unwelcome creatures. Thanks!

How I get to school
“Yay I get to go to school!”
First I get out of my bed.
Secondly I eat my breakfast. Normally I eat weet-bix.
After that I brush my teeth.
Next the cool thing is that I get to watch tv.
Third when I am watching tv my Mum is in the shower.
Then I get to go in a fast car. The car is as white as the clouds.
"Yes I get to go to school!”.
I hope I go to school in the cool holidays. See ya !!!!

Podcasting Update

So far this year with our podcasting, we've been learning to:

1) Introduce ourselves so our audiene will know who's speaking.
2) Use a nice big, clear voice so that our audience will be able to understand us.
3) Check the distance of the microphone and hold onto just the silver part so that the computer will be able to record our voices properly.
4) Add detail to what we're sharing so that our audience can get a clearer picture in their mind.
5) Add a conclusion so that our audience will know when we're finished the podcast.

To this list, we are now adding:
6) Engage our audience by asking them a question about something they've heard.

Starting with today's podcast, you can tune in and be quizzed about some of the news that has been shared!

Yasmin's News

Hi everyone,
This is me on Breeze Marie at Helensville Riding School o.d.e (one day event). We do dressage, show jumping and cross country and I was third overall. Breeze is a mare (which is a girl). She is a pretty palomino pony, (golden colour, with a light mane and tail). She is very kind and gentle but sometimes gets a bit grumpy when I do her girth up. Breeze loves jumping and the cross country was so fun I wanted to do it again. I love Breeze Marie!

Learning a New Instrument

Room 14,
Some of you have been asking about learning a new instrument. As promised, here are the details that were in the RRAP News this week.
Mr. Nash

The Allstar Band Programme is now up and running at the school which means that I am teaching Saxophone, Clarinet, Flute, Trumpet, and Snare Drum preparing the students to start a school band. We currently have lesson openings that we would like to fill on all these instruments. If you are interested in starting lessons you can learn more at www.allstarbp.co.nz, or you can email/call me directly: timbern@allstarbp.co.nz, 021 02772012. (Tim Bern)

Current Homework Sheet

Several parents have come to see me about accidentally misplacing their favourite Room 14er's homework sheet. To help solve the problem, I will do my best to ensure homework sheets are placed right here on the blog to download and print.
Step #1: Right click on the homework sheet below.
Step #2: Select 'Save picture as' and save to your hardrive.
Step #3: Load the file on your computer once it has finished downloading.
Step #4: Print file to fill A4 sized printer paper.
The format is a standard 'jpg' picture file which all computers should be able to read. However, if you are still struggling to download and view the file, please come see me in the classroom.

Cheers,

Mr. Nash

RRAP Messages

Room 14,
Here are our Top 9 RRAP Messages that we came up with today. Just like we talked about this afternoon, everybody that still had one to add can make a comment to this post. At the end of the week I'll set up our voting. Make sure we know your RRAP Message by Friday!

Mr. Nash

Responsibility is important because...

Ella: if you play with people responsibly, they'll want to play with you again.
Mia: if you pick up rubbish, the school will be safe and look very tidy.

Michael: our neighbours will be happy with us.

Lucas: the more responsibility we show, the safer we are.

Lachlan: when you fight it could end up in tears.

Zahra: fantastic role models are a good thing for people younger than us.

Mason: by putting rubbish away in a bin, the animals around school will stay healthy.

Marianne: if you show responsibility you'll make more friends.

Abigail: if we show responsibility around other people, they'll show it around us.

Parent Help

If there are any Room 14 parents that would like to help us out here in the classroom by either sharpening our coloured pencils or cleaning out our mice, please see me before or after school! Your help would be much appreciated! (-:

Activity Fees Due

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

Activity fees for Term 2 are required within the next couple weeks. These fees were displayed in the Term 2 Rimu Team newsletter.
Science Road Show: $5
Bus Trip to Marae: $2
Koha for Marae: $1.60 (this is an updated amount from the newletter)
Jump Rope for Heart: A gold coin donation

This means that the full amount for all activities this term is either $9.60 or $10.60 depending on how much of a donation you want to make to Jump Rope for Heart.

It is recommended that the activity fees are paid in one lump sum rather than just prior to each activity.

Thanks!
Mr. Nash

Blake's News

This is a picture of Richard Kahui and me (Blake) playing Rugby. I had breakfast with some of the All Blacks. My dad got invited to a special breakfast. There were only 50 kids who get invited to have breakfast with some of the All Blacks in Auckland and my sister and I were two of them. I was really happy to be able to play with them. We got a T-shirt, bag and a towel, I also took my small rugby ball and they signed it for me. I’m looking forward to going again this year. By Blake

News Update From Ben

Football

Everyone likes it.
Because it is the favorite sport in the world.
And today I went to a Waitakere United
Vs Hekari United FC and Waitakere won
2-1 but the other team went through to the
Final because Waitakere had to win 3-0.
I was very lucky because I got to walk out on the field with the players and play at half time with my friends and the all whites watched us. Good luck for next year.
Thank you
Ben
