Where Do Acorns Come From?

Last week, a lovely bunch of Room 14ers came in excitedly from lunch and announced that "The squirrels have arrived!" After thinking carefully about animals that (don't) live here in NZ, I replied, "Really? How do you know that?" I was amazed to hear the reply "Because there are acorns all over the place!" They had decided that squirrels lay acorns. So if there are acorns around, there MUST be squirrels around to lay them.

For those lovely Room 14ers that are still wondering why acorns are appearing around the school, please click on 'Exploring the Secret Life of Trees' in the 'General Links' part of the blog.
