Oh Dear...

To the parents and caregivers of Room 14ers,

There are students in Room 14 (and other Hobsonville classes) that currently have nits. In addition to sending the usual letter home that most parents have probably seen at least a few times already over the past couple years, please have a look at the video below. As added bonus footage, the video also includes information about bedbugs and scabies!
This is a friendly reminder to please REGULARLY inspect your favourite Room 14er's hair for any signs of unwelcome creatures. Thanks!

News From Lucas

How I get to school
“Yay I get to go to school!”
First I get out of my bed.
Secondly I eat my breakfast. Normally I eat weet-bix.
After that I brush my teeth.
Next the cool thing is that I get to watch tv.
Third when I am watching tv my Mum is in the shower.
Then I get to go in a fast car. The car is as white as the clouds.
"Yes I get to go to school!”.
I hope I go to school in the cool holidays. See ya !!!!

Science Friday! Episode 1: Carbon Dioxide

This week is the start of SCIENCE FRIDAYS for Room 14. It's a very exciting time. Almost every Friday we'll have a new science episode to put up here on Room 14 Online. We hope you'll learn as much as we do from the experiments!
We'd like to thank Debbie (our super scientist) for coming in and showing us how science can be so incredibly cool! We've learned a lot from her already.

Podcasting Update

So far this year with our podcasting, we've been learning to:

1) Introduce ourselves so our audiene will know who's speaking.
2) Use a nice big, clear voice so that our audience will be able to understand us.
3) Check the distance of the microphone and hold onto just the silver part so that the computer will be able to record our voices properly.
4) Add detail to what we're sharing so that our audience can get a clearer picture in their mind.
5) Add a conclusion so that our audience will know when we're finished the podcast.

To this list, we are now adding:
6) Engage our audience by asking them a question about something they've heard.

Starting with today's podcast, you can tune in and be quizzed about some of the news that has been shared!
